Howdy!
So quite clearly, I am not a good blogger! Almost 4 months have passed since my last blog, and it is almost Christmas. I'll try to catch everyone up quickly.
For Eric, the fall was spent hammering out secondary applications to medical schools and going on interviews. He ended up getting accepted to UW-Madison, George Washington University, and the New England School of Osteopathic Medicine in Maine. He is still waiting to hear back from Boston Univ., but he has decided to attend the UW. He has in-state tuition here, I have a job here, and the school is great...it only makes sense. We are super-excited for him to start his next journey in life.
Coaching is going well for me with lots of great training and January through mid-March will be packed with 3 day Championship meets which will be exciting to see all the hard work pay off with huge time cuts and breakthroughs. I have also been planning to go back to school in the fall part-time to take pre-req classes for a masters in exercise physiology. I can't seem to stay away from school...I am such a nerd really! I worked too hard in my undergrad years not to have a masters to my name at some point in my life, and will pursue it as long as I can coach at the same time to apply my knowledge.
On the trainining side of life, Eric & I did indeed sign up for Ironman Wisconsin 2009! It will happen on Sunday, September 13th of 2009. We found a great training plan that is 8 months long and officially begins on January 5th...only a few weeks away! Being a coach, I don't have the energy to write all of my own workouts on top of my athletes, so I am very excited to have the next 8 months of my athletic life printed out on sheets of paper. The past 4 months I have maintained fitness with working out mostly every day, but just 1 to 1.5 hours of aerobic exercise + 30-45 min. of strength/core per day. It has started to get really boring, and I am ready to step it up a notch and gear up for big training. We watched the IM world championship in TV this past weekend, and it was great coverage and inspiring stuff!
Happy holiday, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!!!
Ciao,
Rebecca
