Swim Meet?!?!?

Eric & I are signed up to compete in our first swim meet post-retirement! This huge event also known as a dinky masters swim meet will take place on Sunday, February 15th. Interestingly enough, it falls on the 3 year anniversary of my retirement from swimming. I suppose it will be fun to get up and race in a pool again, but could also be depressing to see how slow I am now. I haven't even done a start since I've been done. In the end, all of it is a tune up for the big show of Ironman I suppose.

We are both doing the 50, 200, & 500 free. Stay tuned for an update on that!

This week I have been feeling good in my workouts, but am waking up more tired than normal. Motivation to begin the workout has been a bit low as well, but once I get going the fiery passion known as Rebecca's craziness comes out. Taking one day at a time, and enjoying putting my trust in the training plan and focusing all of my energy on planning for my swimmers.

Happy soon-to-be February which is one month closer to spring!!!

January 21st and the holidays are officially over. I was home for 2 days over Christmas, which was so short but sweet. On Christmas day it was sunny and 60 degrees! I went for a long run outside in shorts and a t-shirt. I'm thinking that I need to migrate south sometime in the future. I forgot how awesome winters are there.

On Jan.5th, my Ironman training plan started. I really like the plan because it is 36 weeks long, and starts off very manageable. I'm looking forward to getting back into real shape and seeing where this training takes me. I am actually not minding the indoor training as much as I thought I would. The trainer rides are nice, because you don't have to worry about traffic etc., and treadmill runs are ok I guess, but hopefully the weather will get better so I can get outside more often for runs.

Besides training, there have been meets to attend almost every weekend which is draining but fun to see the kids keep improving. I have also started working at Movin Shoes again, which has been fun learning about all kinds of shoes.

I'll be writing more later, but am off to finish my training sessions for the day and work on swimming stuff.

Ciao!
